Conwy Town Council was created in 1974 & covers the town of Conwy, Llandudno Junction & Deganwy.
There are 5 wards – Aberconwy, Castle, Marl, Pensarn & Deganwy – with 17 Councillors sitting on the Town Council, serving a population of around 14,000.
The Town Council meets every 2 weeks on a Monday evening to consider all sorts of matters affecting the community including planning applications. Members of the public are welcome to observe meetings.
Most importantly the Town Councillors are there to listen to residents.
The Council is led by the Mayor who serves a term of 1 year from mid-May. During their term of office the Mayor attends many functions, most of them charitable & raises money for their chosen local charities. The Mayor is also Constable of Conwy Castle.
Every year the Town Council distributes approximately £20,000 to local organisations & national charities who operate in the area. On top of this, grants are awarded to local festivals & events.
The aim of the Town Council is to encourage residents to work together to achieve the living environment they desire
